Zen Hostel on Black River
The Kanji for Nikko, 日光, means sunlight. Zen Hostel is in an remote location away from the tourist area on a river in what was a Japanese hot-spring inn. There are no souvenir shops and no city lights. Only stars, trees and mountains. You can swim in the river (KuroKawa 黒川) at the hostel and short hikes are nearby. Nikko Japan is the 3rd largest city in Japan by land size so enjoy nature for a few days, there is so much to see here.
All rooms are Japanese tatami style (private rooms have locks on doors) with futons (free internet in the common room) and include a full western breakfast.
Free pick up shuttle from Fubasami on the JR Nikko Line or Shimogoshiro on the Tobu Nikko Line. We can’t pick up at JR or Tobu Nikko.
Every morning our free shuttle takes guest to UNESCO World Heritage (Toshogu Shrine, Futarasan Shrine, Rinnoji Temple, Shinkyo Bridge).
Families with children are best in the annex private rooms for the most privacy. Over 6 years old charged regular price. Snorers have to sleep in the private annex riverside rooms. As a hostel, community is very important.
Western Breakfast is included.
Bikes for hire for 500 yen for the length of your stay.
