The name of the hostel was chosen for it’s brilliant location. Zen describes the beautiful nature in the area, and it’s a “hostel” for it fun and social aspects. We have a free shuttle to help you get here. Zen Hostel is truly “off the beaten path” withou rules, curfews or hidden fees.

Included is a full western breakfast served until 10:30. You can hire bikes for 500 yen for the length of your stay.

No curfew, be free to take midnight strolls along the river and get lost in the Milky Way.

Free pick up shuttle from Fubasami on the JR Nikko Line or Myojin on the Tobu Nikko Line. We can’t pick up at JR or Tobu Nikko. Take the airport bus to/from the area?

All rooms are Japanese tatami style (private rooms have locks on doors) with futons (free wifi internet and iMac in the common room) and include a full western breakfast. Heaters in every room with simple on/off switches; use as you like, no restrictions.

Every morning, sometimes twice, our free shuttle takes guests to UNESCO World Heritage (Toshogu Shrine, Futarasan Shrine, Rinnoji Temple, Shinkyo Bridge). JR Nikko and Tobu Nikko are a 25min walk uphill to the world heritage area. We drive over a mountain each morning direct to the world heritage area in the same amount of time. If you are looking to head off before the everyone else, you are free to ride the public bus or hire a taxi or we can even take you to the train station. The shuttle is a free service for guests to help them get Chuzenji / Senjogahara / Yumoto Onsen bus tickets and to save them from walking 25 minutes uphill in the Unesco tourist area.

Zen Hostel, Nikko, Japan is in a remote location away from the tourist area on a river in what was a Japanese hot-spring inn. There are no souvenir shops and no city lights. Only stars, trees and mountains. Short hikes are nearby.
Nikko Japan is the 3rd largest “city” in Japan by land size so enjoy nature for a few days, there is so much to see here and many hiking trails.
Consider the All-Nikko Pass from Asakusa, the Nikko Free Pass, rent-a-car or even get to-and-from the area with Narita / Haneda Airports direct buses.

Snorers have to sleep in the private annex riverside rooms and are absolutely not allowed in the mixed room in the main building unless your reservation is with the other 3.
