Cherry Blossom forecast 2012

Last year there was this stubborn cherry tree that hadn’t blossomed until May 3rd. The middle of April is when most cherry trees are in full bloom.

2011 : April 17

2010 : April 20

 

The road that the above photograph is from is lined with cherry trees for 2 kilometers, called “Cherry Tree Lane”.

The local village is cutting [edit : has cut] cut down about 60% of them and is planting new trees in there place on March 16, 2012.

Zen Hostel is surrounded by these trees on both sides.  Also at this time is the Yayoi Festival in the Unesco World Heritage area at Futarasan Shrine.
