Nikko Japan Double Rainbow between Mt. Nantai and Senjogahara

On August 31, 2010, we took the Zen Hostel shuttle to Oku-Nikko (Senjogahara, Yuno Lake and Yumoto hot-springs). Oku-Nikko is about 25km from JR Nikko Station / Tobu Nikko Station up a winding road called Irohazaka up a mountain. The elevation at the Nikko Information Center is ~586m, Zen Hostel is ~500m and the gate at the top of Irohazaka is ~1700m. The gate is the start of the Oku-Nikko area from the south.

A quick torrential rain storm came and passed in the late afternoon. A double rainbow formed over Mt. Nantai as soon as the sky cleared and it lasted about an hour and a half while the Sun was setting over Senjogahara.
